Butler Snow Offers Guide to Infrastructure Financing for Local Officials and Developers
Jackson, Miss. – A new handbook from Butler Snow, Mississippi’s leading bond counsel, shows local officials and developers how two financing techniques can be used to reduce funding costs for the infrastructure needed to support commercial, industrial and residential developments.
“Public Improvement Districts and Tax Increment Financing: A Guide for Cities, Counties and Developers” was written by attorneys in the firm’s Public Law and Finance Group. It describes in detail the use of Public Improvement Districts (PIDs) and Tax Increment Financing (TIF).
“PIDs and TIFs are valuable tools for encouraging development and job creation in Mississippi,” said Jet Hollingsworth, a member of the firm’s Public Law and Finance practice. “We developed this handbook to spread the word about the advantages these funding methods offer.”
Butler Snow has substantial experience with these and other public finance instruments. Industry observer Thomson Financial reports the firm is the leading bond counsel in Mississippi, serving as counsel for the issue of more than $1.3 billion in long-term bonds in 2007. Government officials and developers may receive a complimentary copy of the booklet by contacting Butler Snow at 601-948-5711 in Jackson or 228-864-1170 on the Gulf Coast.
