Financial Institution Executives Get “Ripped from the Headlines”

Members of the Midsouth Regulatory Compliance Group, an organization of banks emphasizing compliance matters, got a “Law and Order” style “ripped from the headlines” look at legal issues involved in employee termination cases.   Attorneys in both the Jackson and Memphis offices of Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens and Cannada, PLLC (Butler Snow) conducted mock trials based on an actual case during May.

Both “trials” began late morning and continued through lunch.  “We have found that this ‘dinner theater’ approach engages business leaders more than a traditional lecture, especially when they get to see one of their peers being cross-examined,” said Todd Photopulos of Butler Snow’s Labor and Employment practice group.

At the completion of each trial, jurors, selected from the audiences, issued verdicts.

Law firms traditionally have become involved with clients when they require legal assistance.  The Midsouth Regulatory Compliance Group, which meets throughout the year, is an example of the work Butler Snow does to help their clients avoid legal pitfalls.
