Win for J&J in Vaginal Mesh Bellwether Trial

Lewis v. Johnson & Johnson, et al.  -  Johnson & Johnson, led by Christy Jones of Butler Snow,  won the first bellwether case against it in the multidistrict litigation over alleged transvaginal mesh injuries, in a roughly five-day trial that concluded when a West Virginia federal judge granted the defendants’ motion for judgment as a matter of law.  The district judge dismissed the case of a Texas resident who claimed the Tension-Free Vaginal Tape (TVT) was defectively designed after failing to prove a defect that caused her alleged injuries.

The trial team included: Christy Jones (Lead counsel), David Thomas (local counsel from Thomas, Combs, and Spann), and Butler Snow attorneys Burt Snell, Chad Hutchinson, Michael Brown, Andy Snowden, and Paul Rosenblatt.  We had a tremendous amount of support from our motions team (Donna Jacobs, Susanna Moldoveanu, and Luther Munford) and paralegals (Bonnie Tuten, Diane Wigley, and Brian Brown).
