General Litigation Group
Our General Litigation group focuses on defending tort litigation filed against companies doing business in Mississippi, Tennessee and throughout the Southeast. This includes defending trucking accident cases, commercial and industrial premises liability and alleged workplace accidents and exposure claims, medical and other professional negligence, alleged business fraud, breach of warranty or lemon law claims, “bad faith,” and other business torts such as malicious prosecution. We also defend suits against business entities based on alleged statutory violations, including civil rights claims, discrimination, and RICO.
We represent self-insured clients and companies defending litigation by virtue of a large SIR. We are also approved counsel for a number of major insurers and claim administration companies who retain us to defend claims against their insureds. Our practice often involves resolving and/or litigating issues involving insurance coverage for tort claims.
Practice highlights
- We deal with both the common law of torts in the states where we practice as well as applicable statutory provisions that govern apportionment of liability, punitive damages, venue and other important issues.
- Our trucking team is well-versed in the relevant federal regulations.
- Our premises liability and workplace accident/exposure cases often involve the application of state and OSHA statutes and regulations.
