Butler Snow Attorneys Elected to Local Bar Association Leadership Positions

Butler Snow is proud to announce two attorneys were elected to leadership positions by local bar associations. Meade W. Mitchell began his term as president of the Capital Area Bar Association and John H. Dollarhide began his term as president of the Jackson Young Lawyers Association.

Mitchell’s term as president of the Capital Area Bar Association (CABA) runs from June 1, 2016 until May 31, 2017. CABA, an 80-year-old organization of approximately 1,000 lawyers, serves Hinds County in Mississippi and the surrounding metropolitan areas, including Madison and Rankin Counties. It is the largest local bar association in Mississippi.

Dollarhide’s term as president of the Jackson Young Lawyers Association (JYL) also runs from June 1 until May 31, 2017. Founded in 1936, the JYL strives to strengthen the bond between young and newly admitted attorneys in the Jackson area by emphasizing community, education, and service. JYL members represent virtually every field of law – from family law to corporate law. The group also provides grants to organizations serving the Greater Jackson Metro Area and organizes the Legal Beagle 5K each year.

Mitchell concentrates his practice on product liability defense, toxic tort defense, transportation law/trucking defense, and personal injury defense. He earned both his undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi. He has been named in Mid-South Super Lawyers since 2007, and has also been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America®, and is AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Mitchell is the immediate past chair of the Mississippi Bar Association’s litigation section and serves in a variety of leadership roles within the American Bar Association’s tort trial and insurance section.

Dollarhide is a member of the firm’s commercial litigation group and focuses his practice on business torts and unfair competition, commercial litigation, drug and device litigation, financial services litigation, and professional liability. He completed his undergraduate education at Mississippi State University before earning his Juris Doctor from Mississippi College School of Law. He is AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been named a Mid-South Rising Star by Super Lawyers.
