December 4, 2014 | by Butler Snow

Butler Snow is pleased to announce that Attorney James H. (Jay) Bolin has met the requirements to serve as a National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) Contract Advisor (NFL Agent). Bolin is a member of the firm’s Product Liability and General Litigation Practice Groups, and the Entertainment and Media Industry Team.

“There is a need to provide quality representation to professional athletes, amateur athletes, their parents, and coaches in the areas of contract negotiation and legal counsel,” said Bolin. “Becoming a NFL Agent is one step in an effort to provide that service.”

The process for the NFLPA includes a background check, certain educational requirements, knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Salary Cap, and the ability to pass an exam.  Bolin passed the exam in July.

The ability to offer these types of services is made possible by Butler Snow’s Entertainment and Media Industry Team.  The team, which was created out of a diverse group of practice areas and disciplines already existing within the firm, offers a wide variety of services to all segments of the entertainment, media and sports industries.

Bolin earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Accountancy, as well as a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, the Mississippi Bar, and the Capital Area Bar Association.
