Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada, PLLC (Butler Snow) Attorney Anita Modak-Truran has been awarded the Worker Achievement Award by The Trial Attorneys of America.

Modak-Truran is a member of the firm’s Product Liability Group and Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Healthcare Industry Team.  Anita’s practice focuses on drug and medical device, product liability, copyright counseling and litigation and media and entertainment law.

“Anita is certainly well-deserving of this award,” said Donald Clark, Jr., Chairman, Butler Snow. “She has worked tirelessly on behalf of Butler Snow and our clients.”

Anita was named one of Mississippi’s 50 Leading Business Women by the Mississippi Business Journal in 2002, and is a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and Trial Attorneys of America.  She is also a participant in the ABA Minority Counsel Program and a graduate of the International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy.  Anita is a frequent speaker on entertainment and intellectual property issues.  She currently teaches a Media and the Law class at Tulane University, Madison campus, and is an adjunct professor at Mississippi College School of Law for oral advocacy.

The Trial Attorneys of America Worker Achievement Award (TAA WAA) is presented each year at the organization’s Annual Meeting to the member who has given his or her talents and time to TAA to foster its goals and whose professional abilities are recognized by his or her peers.  According to TAA, membership is limited to 200 attorneys “who devote a substantial portion of their practice to the defense of product liability litigation and to corporate counsel who work primarily in that area.”
